    Young Adult Residential Program

The Young Adult Residential Program at Ability Beyond Disability provides adolescents and young adults ages 16-25 who have Mental Illness and/or Trauma the opportunity to participate in a safe, structured, and nurturing program which promotes positive decision making, and personal growth while transitioning toward a successful, independent lifestyle in the community.

    How Does the Program Work?

    • Individuals will reside in a Supported Independent Living Arrangement in the community with 24-hour staff supports
    • Individuals participate in a specific curriculum which combines life skills education, independence, and behavioral modification.
    • The program is considered transitional and individuals only participate for a period of a few years.
    • Individuals will be matched with education and employment resources and many have the opportunity to continue high school in their community
    • It is expected that at the end of the program individuals will be prepared to graduate from 24 hour supervised residential care and move to a more independent setting with less staff supports.
