Young Adult Programs
Young Adult Residential Program
The Young Adult Residential Program at Ability Beyond Disability provides adolescents and young adults ages 16-25 who have Mental Illness and/or Trauma the opportunity to participate in a safe, structured, and nurturing program which promotes positive decision making, and personal growth while transitioning toward a successful, independent lifestyle in the community.
How Does the Program Work?
School To Community Transitional Services
Through our School to Community Transitional Services we help young adults with disabilities acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to make a smooth transition from high school graduation to life as an adult. We help young adults with disabilities acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to find a rewarding career, manage their lives, and participate in society.
Our trained staff works with students, families, and educators to assist them in preparing for their future. We work together to develop a plan for postsecondary education or vocational training, employment and also independent living and community participation.
|“As a young adult with special needs, Chris needed help transitioning into the adult world. He needed to learn the skills necessary for living and working in the community as independently as he possibly could and he learned these skills at one of our community living facilities, which provides behavioral and transitional supports for young adults.”|
