What We Do

    Social and Community Integration

At Ability Beyond Disability we recognize that not every person can work each and every day. Because of that we provide vital social and recreational opportunities to teach life skills and help people assimilate into the community. As people age and choose to retire, we offer options to enhance life during the latter years.

    Volunteer and Recreational Services
For many people, finding a way to "give back" is a meaningful and enjoyable activity. To that end, Ability Beyond Disability provides opportunities for people to pursue life as productive members of the community. The individuals we serve volunteer in soup kitchens, shelters, youth organizations and other social service organizations. Our trained support staff also helps individuals to participate in the many recreational and social activities our community offers.

    Auxiliary Services
For those who prefer not to work full-time we provide an opportunity to strengthen cognitive, visual, sensory and social stimulation skills through computer lessons, news writing, games, exercise, arts and crafts, cooking, listening activities and hands on manipulation. The staff work in collaboration with clinical therapists to ensure a continuum of care and promote maximum abilities Auxiliary services are only available as an adjunct to our community-based services

    Sensory Enrichment
The Sensory Enrichment Program is for individuals who are best served in a site-based program with facilities and equipment for personal care needs. These individuals are largely dependent upon staff for motor skills, speech and/or mobility. Group therapy focuses on cognitive, visual, sensory and social stimulation using a variety of techniques including massage, music and movement therapy.

Staff work closely with clinical therapists to integrate therapies with daily programming. This includes, but is not limited to, occupational, physical, speech and psychological therapies. Individuals are also given the opportunity to participate in recreational, leisure and/or volunteer activities in the community.
