Ability Beyond Disability appoints vice president of Development

Paul A. Dunne, CFRE to lead fundraising efforts

BETHEL, CT -- Ability Beyond Disability has appointed Paul A. Dunne, CFRE as the vice president of development, it was announced by Thomas H. Fanning, president/CEO of the organization.

In his role as vice president of development, Mr. Dunne will be responsible for the activities of Ability Beyond Disability’s Development Department and manage its annual development and fundraising initiatives.

"Our success depends on our ability to grow and provide services to more people who will need our help in the future," said Fanning. " In order to do that we need to raise more money from the community and I am certain that Paul is the right person for that job."

Mr. Dunne will be instrumental in leading the fundraising efforts of Ability Beyond Disability. In addition to helping the organization raise over $50 million annually, Mr. Dunne will be responsible for raising the funds needed to support organizational growth – including doubling the number of people it serves – through its strategic plan, Vision 2013.

Most recently Mr. Dunne served as the vice president of Fund Development and Marketing with the North Hawaii Community Hospital.

"There is only one organization that could have gotten me off of the beach," said Dunne. "I am in awe of the work that Ability Beyond Disability does and I just had to be part of it," he said.

Prior to his time in Hawaii, Paul headed the fund raising departments for the Inner City Health Center and the Denver Rescue Mission in Colorado.

Through Vision 2013, Ability Beyond Disability is prepared to double the number of people it serves, by growing existing services and pursuing much-needed specialty services. Included in the plan is the development of facilities designed to meet the special needs of aging adults with disabilities, the substantial expansion of employment and supported living services and the growth of service sites for young adults and youth with disabilities. In addition to growth in services areas, Vision 2013 will also focus on strengthening and expanding its workforce, implementing new technologies to enhance the efficiency of service delivery and financing its future.

Meet Chris As a young adult with special needs, Chris needed help transitioning into the adult world. He needed to learn the skills necessary for living and working in the community as independently as he possibly could and he learned these skills at one of our community living facilities, which provides behavioral and transitional supports for young adults.
