Sodexo Honored by Ability Beyond DisabilityJobs for individuals with disabilities proves diversity is high on priority listBETHEL, Conn., October 28, 2008 - Ability Beyond Disability honored Sodexo at the agency's Celebration of Ability event, with its Outstanding Employer Award. Considerations for the award include the number of Ability Beyond Disability consumers employed, length of employment, special accommodations and integration into work culture and environment. Sodexo has been nationally recognized as number 12 on the 2008 DiversityInc. top 50 Companies to work for diversity list, and has risen one spot on the list each year for the past three years. This is no surprise to Ability Beyond Disability as Sodexo has been employing consumers of the organization for the past three years at Western Connecticut State University, going out of their way to make sure that each individual is as successful as possible in his or her position. True to their reputation, the management and kitchen staff at Sodexo that work with Ability Beyond Disability clients spend additional time and resources training individuals to ensure that they are comfortable and thoroughly understand their responsibilities. "Sodexo's commitment to helping people with disabilities succeed in the workplace is visible in everything they do," said Thomas H. Fanning, President/CEO at Ability Beyond Disability. "Their staff are patient and willing to make accommodations; they work with each individual and help them achieve their full potential." Other outstanding community service award recipients were: Outstanding Employer, Pepsi Bottling Group; Outstanding Employee, Jessica Forgione, Diane Strom and Jeff Tomascak; Outstanding Philanthropist, Elain Cox. The organization also welcomed new Board members: Paul Hamilton or Pepsi Bottling Group to the Board of Directors and John Arcario of Cartus, Greg Moore of Pepsi Bottling Group and Jordan Young of Fairfield Processing to the Board of Trustees. Ability Beyond Disability is a 501{c} (3) organization headquartered in Bethel, Conn. and Mount Kisco, N.Y.
