    Summary of Employment Benefits


    Benefits Available to All Employees:

    • Holidays- Ability Beyond Disability recognizes ten (10) holidays per year. Effective immediately upon hire.
    • Tax Deferred Annuity Program- Effective immediately upon hire, any employee may elect to join and contribute to a 403(b) plan.

    • Direct Deposit- Effective immediately upon hire, any employee may choose automatic deposit of full or partial salary to one or more financial institutions.

    • Credit Union- Effective immediately upon hire, any employee may elect to join.

    • Short Term Disability (NY)- Ability Beyond Disability pays the premium for New York State employees only (as per state mandate).

    • Life Assistance Program (LAP), also known as Employee Assistance Program (EAP)- Effective immediately upon hire, each employee and his/her family members are entitled to use the confidential Lmployee Assistance Program (LAP) at no cost. The LAP offers counseling and assistance with relationship or work related issues, family problems, legal concerns, financial information, and credit consolidation.

    • Consumer Credit Counseling Services- Effective immediately upon hire, a confidential and free program for all employees seeking guidance for budgeting and credit counseling.

    • People's United Bank: Workplace Banking-  Effective immediately upon hire and available to all employees. This service offers free checking, free ATM debit card, waived monthly fees on lines of credit and home equity products, credits towards closing costs and more. 

     


     



    Benefits Available to Regular Full and Part-Time Employees:

    • Benefit Time

      • Sick- For regular full time (non-per diem, non-temporary, non-flex) employees, sick days are accrued at the rate of one (1) week per year, beginning with the date of full-time hire.  For regular part time (non-per diem, non-temporary, non-flex) employees, sick days are accrued at the rate of one (1) hour per 40 hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours per calendar year.
        Eligibility after five (5) months.
    • Voluntary Insurance Program- Effective immediately upon hire, any employee with a schedule of twenty (20) or more hours may purchase- through payroll deduction- supplemental life insurance for self or loved ones, short term disability, supplemental hospital insurance, and cancer insurance.
       

    • Bereavement Leave- Effective immediately upon hire, each regular full and part-time employee is entitled to three (3) days per occurrence for a death in the immediate family.




    Benefits Available to Regular Full-Time Employees:*
    *Note: This applies to non-temporary staff who are hired with a schedule of 30 hours or more per week. All Full-Time employees must attend a Full-Time Benefits In-Service within 30 days of hire.

    • Medical/Dental Programs-  Benefits are effective the first day of the month following a 90-day waiting period. Premium is shared between Ability Beyond Disability and the employee and is based upon the dental and medical programs chosen by the employee.

    • Long Term Disability-  Ability Beyond Disability pays the premium. Effective the first day of the month following a 90-day waiting period. The insurance program provides sixty percent (60%) compensation following the elimination period.

    • Life Insurance-  Ability Beyond Disability pays the premium. Effective the first day of the month following a 90-day waiting period. The payout is equal to the employee's annual salary, with a minimum of $15,000 and a maximum of $50,000.

    • Accidental Death/Dismemberment-  Ability Beyond Disability pays premium. Effective first day of the month following a 90-day waiting period.

    • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)- Tax saving benefits for health insurance, reimbursable medical costs and/or dependent care. Effective the first day of the month following a 90-day waiting period.

    • Benefit Time-

      1. Vacation- Accrued at the rate of two (2) weeks per calendar year beginning with the date of full-time hire. Upon completion of two (2) years of continuous non-temporary full-time employment, the employee will begin to accrue three (3) weeks per year. After ten (10) years, the employee will begin to accrue four (4) weeks per year. Eligibility after six (6) months.  
         

      2. Personal- Three (3) benefit days. Upon completion of two (2) years of continuous non-temporary full-time employment, the employee will receive five (5) benefit days. After four (4) years, the employee will receive eight (8) benefit days. Actual number of days varies in first year based on date of full-time hire. Eligibility after three (3) months.
         
    • Tuition Reimbursement- The reimbursement rate is subject to change and the benefit subject to a maximum "cap" during the fiscal year dependant on funding/budget. Employees will be reimbursed at the following percentages, which are based on years of service, for the cost of the course or program, given that he/she is still a full-time employee at Ability Beyond Disability:

      • Employed one (1) year through 23 months: reimbursed at 30% up to a maximum of $1,000 per calendar year. 
      • Employed two (2) years through 35 months: reimbursed at 40% up to $1,500 per calendar year. 
      • Employed three (3) years or more: reimbursed at 50% up to $1,500 per calendar year.

    *Note: Courses and/or degree must be related to Ability Beyond Disability's overall mission and goals.
